WILLS
WHAT IS A WILL?
A Will is a legal declaration by which a person, the testator, disposes of his property and assets to take effect after his death.
A will can be changed and amended.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I DIE WITHOUT HAVING MADE A WILL?
There are laws which determine who will inherit if a person dies intestate, that is without a will. However it is always preferable to have a will which specifies your chosen beneficiaries and executor and avoids the many complex problems which can arise in the absence of one.
WHY SHOULD AN ATTORNEY DRAFT YOUR WILL?
Attorneys are professionals qualified in law and can advise you on any problem which may arise with regard to your will. Attorneys have the necessary knowledge and expertise to ensure that your will is valid and complies with your wishes. Often a will is not valid because the person who drafts it does not have the necessary legal knowledge to ensure that the legal requirements are met.
